Free CS2 Cases Without a Deposit: How They Really Work

Free cases are the main way CS2 case sites compete for new players, and they really are free to open. What they are not is free money: almost every offer comes with conditions that decide whether you can ever withdraw what you win.

The main types

Sign-up and promo code cases. Entering a site's promo code, or signing up through a referral link that applies one for you, unlocks one or more free cases. These are what our rankings list under Free Cases.
Daily and level cases. Opened once a day, with better cases unlocked as your level on the site, or sometimes your Steam level, goes up.
Deposit bonuses. Extra balance on top of a deposit, usually a percentage. Not free, and worth reading separately from the free cases.

The conditions to check

Wagering requirements. Winnings from free cases often arrive as bonus balance that must be played through a number of times before it can be withdrawn.
Withdrawal minimums. A skin worth a few cents is yours on the site, but you cannot withdraw it until your balance reaches the minimum.
A first deposit. Some sites let you open the free case but only release what you won after your first deposit. "No deposit" should mean no deposit at every step.
Account requirements. A minimum Steam level, a minimum account age, a public profile, or the site's name in your Steam nickname are all common anti-abuse checks.
Expiry. Unused free cases and bonus balance can expire.

Getting the most out of them

Read the terms of the offer before you enter the code, not after you win.
Use the site's promo code or a referral link rather than signing up directly. On most sites, the code is what unlocks the free cases.
Expect low-value items. Free cases are weighted heavily towards cheap skins. A knife is possible, but rare.
Use what you win to try the site out, including a small withdrawal, before you consider depositing. Our guide to withdrawing skins safely covers what to check.

Free cases are still case opening, which is gambling and for adults only. Only spend what you can afford to lose.
